Educational Background Challenges
With increased globalisation of tertiary education, students from diverse educational backgrounds with a language of instruction different from their native language, face additional challenges to adapt to different learning systems due to different textual experiences interacting with new literacy practices. Different approaches to academic writing could either enhance or restrict culturally diverse students from finding their voices (Canagarajah, 2002).
Challenges involve students from diverse educational backgrounds that include identifying and analysing diverse student learning needs, applying prior learning experience and different learning styles. (Holzl, 1999)
